About this tool
Excel chokes, the importer caps at ten thousand rows, the API wants batches — large CSV files constantly need cutting down to size. This splitter does it locally in your browser. Drop in a CSV and choose your axis: by rows, producing chunks of N lines each with the header row repeated in every file so each chunk imports cleanly on its own; or by columns, extracting just the fields you pick by name, perfect for stripping a wide export down to the three columns a tool actually needs. Results download individually or packed in a zip with sensible names like data-part1.csv. The parser handles quoted fields, embedded commas and newlines correctly, so real-world exports survive intact. A preview of the detected headers and row count confirms the file parsed as expected before you split. Everything runs client-side, which matters because CSV exports usually contain exactly the customer data your policies say cannot go to third-party servers. No row limits, no account, no upload — just smaller files.

Frequently asked questions
Is the header row kept in each chunk?
Yes. When splitting by rows, every output file starts with the original header so each one imports standalone.
Can it handle quoted fields with commas?
Yes. The parser follows RFC 4180, so quoted commas, quotes and newlines inside fields are handled correctly.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit; files of hundreds of megabytes process fine since everything runs locally on your machine.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The file is read and split entirely in your browser and never transmitted.
